За ранее утвержденную Еврокомиссией премию «Зеленая столица Европы» сражаются десятки европейских городов, среди которых и ведущие мегаполисы Европы, и городки весьма скромные по своим размерам. Минск хоть и чистый, но на звание Зеленой столицы Европы 2011-2012 не тянет
Этот конкурс создан для стимуляции городов к улучшению экологической ситуации в Европе. В критерии его оценки входят такие показатели, как количество зеленых насаждений в городе, качество воздуха, уровень городского шума, стандарты переработки отходов и т.д. Города-претенденты на почетный титул также должны продемонстрировать свой реальный вклад в борьбу с изменениями климата. После подведения первых итогов титул «Зеленой столицы Европы» 2010 года получил Стокгольм, а в 2011-ом году это почетное звание будет нести Гамбург. Столица Швеции, стоящая на архипелаге из 14 островов, окружена прекрасными лесопарковыми оазисами, соединенными с центром города очень эффективной транспортной системой. В заслугу Стокгольму был поставлен и знаменитый на весь мир парк – Экопаркен, являющийся первым в мире городским национальным парком площадью более 30 квадратных километров. Заслуги Гамбурга стоит отметить особо, ведь этот город - второй по величине европейский порт и одновременно самый зеленый город Германии. По оценкам специалистов – экологов, в Гамбурге применяются высоко эффективные природосберегающие технологии городского хозяйства. Кроме того, город заметен обилием растений. Только один городской парк Pflanzen und Blumen включает в себя и огромный ботанический сад, и тропическую оранжерею, и самый обширный в Европе японский сад. А другой муниципальный парк - Stadtpark считается самыми большим «зеленым театром» Европы из-за размеров расположенной в нем открытой сцены. Финал зеленой столицы ЕвропыВесной этого года в финал конкурса вышли испанские города Барселона и Витория-Гастейс, шведский Мальме, французский Нант, немецкий Нюрнберг и исландский Рейкьявик. В течение полугода они продолжали отчаянно бороться за победу. И вот Еврокомиссией названы города, которые будут носить звание «Зеленой столицы» Европы в 2012 и 2013 годах - Витория-Гастейс и Нант соответственно. Об этом сообщил еврокомиссар по вопросам окружающей среды Янез Поточник на торжественной церемонии в Стокгольме. Официальная столица Страны Басков, старинный город Витория-Гастейс является одним из самых чистых городов Испании. Расположенный в провинции Алава Витория-Гастейнс был основан в 1181 году. Сегодня в нем проживает порядка 240 000 человек. Центр города буквально окружен "зеленой зоной". Еврокомиссия отметила заслуги города в озеленении области, бережное отношение к флоре и фауне, а также значительные успехи в осуществлении большого количества проектов по улучшению водоснабжения и качества воды. А вот расположенный на западе Франции, в устье Луары, шестой по величине город Франции Нант (население 285 000 человек) получил звание «Зеленой столицы» за продвижение экологически чистых транспортных средств и успешное городское зонирование. Городские власти всячески поощряют пользование общественным транспортом и велосипедами. Так, Нант стал первым французским городом, который сумел восстановить свои трамвайные сети. Расположенный в живописной долине Луары, которую пересекает множество небольших речушек, Нант успешно сочетает в своей структуре «зеленую» и «синюю» зону в интересах сохранения экологии и здоровья своих жителей.
